Bathroom fitting in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire

This was another repeat order for LH Gas. The client came back to us after we completed a stunning bathroom to wet room conversion for him.  Although this was a smaller en-suite shower room, the same principles and processes would apply and our client knew that we always ensure a high-quality finish on all our projects.

Some of the groundwork had already been put in place while the original wet room was being installed. Items such as the Sturt and Turner Monsoon 3.5 bar twin impeller shower pump. This is one of the market leaders available and is well capable of supplying hot and cold water to two showers simultaneously.

Constant water on tap

The pump is also continually rated which, unlike cheaper units, means it can be run for as long as it is required. Cheaper pumps allow a split on/off running length, making them suitable for single shower installations only.

As the layout of the room was to be modified, our design team came up with the great idea of turning the WC around so that it sat neatly under the window, with the concealed cistern and frame installed to match the height of the window ledge. The ledge itself was tiled to create a deeper shelving area. Once the wall hung WC was installed, the room seemed instantly larger.

The shower itself was a small and compact 760x760mm cubicle with a tiled niche — again to create a more spacious feel. A stylish and modern wall-hung vanity drawer unit and basin were then installed to complete the sanitary installation.

Final luxury touches

As with most contemporary bathrooms installed by LH Gas the accessories are the items that really give a bathroom or shower room the proper “finish.” The modern Flova items that LH Gas recommend not only add a high quality look to the room but also add practicality to storing items like toilet rolls and small hand towels.

The final touch was the installation of underfloor heating for that extra luxury. This was installed under natural colour tiles, to give the room a spacious feel, sourced from Pentagon Tiles in Harlow. Matching grout and silicone corners completed the waterproof seal.

LH Gas were delighted to be awarded this job by a client who knew from previous experience that our designers and installers will always go the extra mile to ensure that we deliver a top quality service.

Walk-in shower room fitted in Hertford

This was a renovation job for a new customer who contacted us to take advantage of our free quotation offer. LH Gas Ltd visited the property, discussed the requirements, supplied a quote and were pleased to be given the work

Our client’s plan was to modernize the existing ensuite, so we proposed two options: either to transform the whole space into a wet room, or to create a walk-in shower room. Our client decided that a walk-in shower room would be more practical.

The first stage was to remove all existing sanitary ware into a skip that LH Gas had hired from FROOMS. Then we removed all existing tiles and plasterboard.

All new walls

This is an important part of a renovation because we believe old plasterboard in a bathroom will always contain some damp and water damage. By installing new plasterboard or plywood we can guarantee a longer life bathroom/shower room as all the walls will be 100% water and moisture proof.

We used 18mm plywood in the dry areas and 12mm moisture proof plasterboard in the wet section. All intersections were then taped and joined.  The floor was laid using 6mm ply floor cover and a low profile shower tray was installed.

Tiling and decorating

Then we started on the tiling. In the shower area we used modern light coloured smooth large tiles, ground and siliconed in all corners around the shower tray, to fully waterproof the enclosed area.

The floor was laid in the same tiles and a tiled skirting board was installed, while the rest of the room was decorated using a specialist bathroom paint.

All sanitary ware was chosen from PURA, allowing our customer to use our extensive trade discount. Our client selected a two door vanity unit with basin, along with a PURA FLOVA mixer tap. A two door mirrored wall mounted cupboard was also chosen. As an extra touch, LH Gas used one of the large tiles to create a splash back for the basin area.

Smart new shower

A large overhead shower and a hand held shower and two way valve was installed in the shower area. The shower enclosure incorporated a rigid and robust doorframe in polished aluminium with a smooth sliding door to create a fashionable centrepiece for the room. Finally as a finishing touch we installed a modern ladder towel rail.

Our customers were so pleased we will soon be returning to their property to carry out another bathroom renovation!

Shower installation in Stevenage, Hertfordshire

LH Gas were asked by an existing customer to provide a quotation for a bathroom renovation. We had installed a heating system for them in the past and because they found our work so professional and reliable, they decided they wanted to give us the opportunity.

Our customers were undecided on how to best design the bathroom. One aim was to maximize the space while keeping in mind all the requirements of a family. With years of experience in bathroom design, LH Gas suggested a walk-in shower which would suit their requirements perfectly.

Once our quotation was accepted, the sanitary ware and tiles were selected and ordered. LH Gas provide a complete service, so we arranged a skip to be delivered at the address just before we started work.

Installation

In plumbing terms, the first stage of a bathroom renovation is called the “rip-out.” All the decommissioned plumbing, sanitary ware and tiles were removed and placed in the skip.

The second stage was to flatten walls and introduce the hot and cold water pipes into their new relevant positions. Since we were moving the WC, the soil pipe was moved and finally central heating pipes fitted, ready for the new towel rail.

We then installed a new 6mm ply floor cover and a low profile shower tray. After plastering, the shower wall was tiled from floor to ceiling and a splash back tiled for the basin area. The floor was finished with porcelain tiles and the remaining walls painted using a specialist waterproof bathroom paint.

After the decoration, the next stage of plumbing started. Towel radiator, shower, basin and close-coupled WC were all installed and to complete the high-end luxury look, we installed a bespoke shower screen with profile and wall / ceiling support.

Our customers were overwhelmed with the results of the renovation and said they would always highly recommend the LH Gas team in the future.
